3-Parishes Past Events
Opening of the New Presbytery
2nd October 2011
The new Presbytery at 186, St John’s Rd, Boxmoor was officially opened on Sunday 2nd October 2011.
On a
gloriously warm and sunny day over 125 parishioners, clergy, children, Diocesan
and Business
representatives and Dacorum councillors gathered first in the Parish Centre to
hear words of welcome
and thanks from Fr John Byrne (PP) followed by a Blessing Ceremony conducted by
the newly appointed
Auxiliary Bishop for Hertfordshire, Very Reverend John Sherrington.
The proceedings included a rousing rendition of ‘’Our House’ by the St Mary and
St Joseph Church Choir.
Two commemorative plaques donated by parishioners and sited in the parish meeting room in 186 were blessed.
Bishop
Sherrington then led the Time Capsule burial assisted by children from our local
schools.
The Capsule contains items and details of current parish life which we hope will
prove fascinating
to those who open it in 2061AD.
Afterwards, ‘Open House’ tours of the Presbytery and the adjoining Maisonettes
and adjacent new Parish Office took place.
Finally, our Catholic Women’s League provided light refreshments in
the Parish Centre to complete a joyful and very enjoyable occasion.
An
official ‘souvenir brochure’ of the event is now available on all our parish
websites.
This can be downloaded if a hard copy is required...
...perhaps to be passed on as a family heirloom for future generations!
Hard copies have also been circulated for display in each of the three parish churches.
In
addition, Paul Watkins, our ‘resident photographer’,
has very kindly compiled an extensive set of photographs of the event
and these can be accessed by clicking on to his website at:
